The Creative Institute of Design (SCID), also known as Sasi Creative Institute of Design, is one of the country’s premier design institutions and among the few private multidisciplinary centers for creative studies in Tamil Nadu.
SCID maintains an impressive faculty-to-student ratio of 1:8, allowing for individual attention, mentorship, and holistic development. Our faculty members come from diverse professional and academic backgrounds, having graduated from some of the most prestigious institutions such as NID, NIFT, IIT, CEPT, and top international universities.
SCID students consistently achieve top ranks in university examinations, a testament to the academic rigor and quality of our programs.
At Creative Colleges, we emphasize the development of each student’s analytical skills and creative thinking, ensuring they are prepared to adapt and thrive in any future market scenario. Our focus is on creating future-proof professionals who are ready to take on global design challenges.
In 2020, SCID signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Birmingham City University, UK, opening doors to student and faculty exchange, study abroad opportunities, credit transfers, research collaborations, and more. We’ve also established partnerships with BITS, UAE, and offer certified program participation at the National University of Singapore (NUS). These international collaborations provide students with world-class content and exposure to global industry practices, offering an unmatched academic experience.
Our campus is equipped with cutting-edge infrastructure. The library houses over 4,000 books, including 1,000 international titles and journals. Our workshop lab features state-of-the-art tools such as a weather station, laser cutter, 3D printer, advanced laser printer, and 10 imported Bosch machines. This makes SCID one of the top institutions for hands-on learning in India.
We also host national and international-level design conferences and workshops. In 2020, we organized the ‘AnD Conclave’, an architecture and design event focused on exploring how creative professions shape humanity. The conclave featured some of the most distinguished minds in design and architecture from across the country.
SCID is also committed to advancing design thinking through design publishing, which remains a critical need in India. Our first publication, “Design Values”, launched in 2020, was a collaborative project between a senior professor and a graduating student, combining rich academic insight with creative execution.
